BACKGROUND / WHY IT WAS FORMED ?

The recent politico-socio-economic crisis which was also characterized by massive genocide, and the economic decline over the last decade and half has adversely affected the living standards of the vast majority of Rwandese.

Vulnerable groups, especially women, and children have particularly become victims to the adverse economic and political trends as most services geared at their development have been put into disuse.

This task is perceived to go beyond the confines of government alone and necessitates a collaborative effort between the government, NGO's and the Community at large. \par \par It is within this context that BENISHYAKA ASSOCIATION was formed by a group of Rwandese Women to augment government efforts and address the socio-economic requirements of targeted population in R wanda, particularly Widows, Single mothers, Unaccompanied children, Orphans and others in need.
